Eileen Patricia MacNeil

With heavy hearts we regret to announce the passing of Eileen Patricia MacNeil, of Sydney, on May 13, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Arthur V. and Catherine (McKillop) McKenna.
Eileen was employed with Sobeys Sydney River for 34 years, where she met many wonderful lifelong friends. She was a kind person with a wonderful sense of humour and enjoyed making people laugh. Eileen was married to the love of her life, Bill MacNeil for 60 years, they raised their family together in Sydney. Eileen’s family was the most important part of her life and she was very proud of them all.
She is survived by her daughters, Charlene (Kevin) Tighe and Darlene (Gary) MacNeil; grandchildren, Melanie Tighe (Paul Forget), Kevin Tighe, Shaun, Erin and Leah MacNeil; great-grandchildren, Ryley and Hunter Tighe-Forget; sister, Kay Filek; sisters-in-law, Florence Stewart and Enid Gosse, and brother-in-law, Paul Bourgeois.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Bill MacNeil; brother, Arthur McKenna; sisters, Pauline MacRury, Carol Bourgeois, and nine half-sisters.
A funeral service with be held at TW Curry Parkview Chapel on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 2 p.m. with Father Bill Burke presiding. Interment at Hardwood Hill at a later date.
