Theresa Cecilia (MacIntyre) MacArthur

It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Theresa Cecilia (MacIntyre) MacArthur on Sunday, May 19th, 2019 at home. Born in East Bay on September 13th, 1932, Theresa was the daughter of the late Danny and Sadie (MacPherson) MacIntyre of East Bay.
She was mother to 13 of her own children but was affectionately known as “Ma” to her 24 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and to so many more. As if being a stay at home mother to 13 wasn’t enough, as some of the children got older she held several jobs such as retail worker, housekeeper at Keddy’s Motor Inn, babysitting and she provided homecare.
Theresa met her husband “Donnie Boo” of Upper Prince Street at a dance in Sydney. They shared 53 years of marriage before Dad passed away in August 2005. We take great comfort in knowing that Mom is with Dad, whom he lovingly referred to as “Mother Theresa”.
She will be remembered as a kind soul to many – by neighbours and friends from Portage to Sydney. She had a soft spot for the many four-legged friends that crossed her path over the years. A few of Mom’s favourite pastimes were bingo, trips to the Casino with her daughter Sharon, and Sunday suppers with numerous kids and grandkids.
Theresa is survived by eight daughters, Joan (Jim) MacDonald, Sharon (Ed) Campbell, Anne Marie (Greg) Pasternak, Margie (Robert) Eisan, Cathy (Barry MacKay), Susie (Arthur MacKinnon), Tracey (Sean) O’Rourke and Tammy (Sean) MacSween; five sons, Doug (Catherine), Jimmy (Maureen O’Rourke), Bobby (Gina), Johnny and Charlie (Cindy). She is also survived by two sisters, Rita Tushaus and Susan MacEachern; brothers-in-law, Roddie (Judy) MacArthur, John MacArthur; sisters-in-law, Anna Kehoe, Catherine MacIntyre and Norine MacIntyre. She will be deeply and sadly missed by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.
Besides her parents and husband, Donald, Theresa was predeceased by siblings, Peggy MacIntyre, Mickey MacIntyre, Mary Quinn, Catherine MacIntyre and Johnny MacIntyre.
Visitation will be held at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Thursday, May 23rd, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Parish, Sydney at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24th with Father Bill Burke presiding. Reception to follow. Interment to follow at a later date.
