Margaret "Maud" KEAVENEY (Linnane)

KEAVENEY (Linnane), Margaret “Maud” – 96, Salmon River, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, May 21, 2019, surrounded by her loving family, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Milford, County Cork, Ireland, she was a daughter of the late James and Margaret (Prindible) Linnane. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Keaveney; son, James Francis; sisters, Molly Linnane, Hannah Joyce, Elsie O’Donnell; brother, Dennis Linnane. She is survived by her sister, Beth, County Cork, Ireland; sons, John (Christina), Thomas (Andrea), Peter (Cherie Abriel), Dennis; grandchildren, Matthew, Meghan (Ryan Scott), Erin, Dennis, Conor, Eilish; great grandchildren, Rowan and Rory Scott. Margaret was a renowned storyteller who kept her extended family in Ireland, England and North America connected. She made a positive impact in each of the communities in which she resided. She left her loving family in County Cork, Ireland, in 1941 to seek employment in London, England during the Second World War; it was there that she met the love of her life, Tom, whom she married in 1946. She emigrated to Canada with this fellow Irishman. Together, they spread joy in such towns as Dorion, Quebec, Stephenville, Newfoundland, Quispamsis, New Brunswick and finally Truro. Margaret was a woman of her word who did not take commitment lightly; she was a loyal and dedicated friend to many. Like all good storytellers, she was also a great listener. When opening up her heart and home, she felt joy in the successes of others while showing genuine empathy for those experiencing hardship. She will be missed by all who knew her and her singing voice and spirit will remain in our memories forever. The Keaveney family would like to thank the medical community for the terrific services provided; this includes Dr. Shikhi Sharma, Dr. Thomson, second and third floor nurses at Colchester East Hants Health Centre and the VON. We are also grateful to Maud’s circle of friends, especially the unbelievable support from Frances Breen, Margaret Holder, Robin Storr, Helen Moore, Cameron MacKinnon and the Fitzgerald and Boudreau families. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Margaret’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2019. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Thursday, May 23, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro, Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiating.
