The death occurred at his home in Montague on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, of James Earle Bruce, dear husband of Enid Bruce. Born in High Bank on June 5, 1934, Earle attended Prince of Wales College, Mount Allison University, Dalhousie University and the University of Toronto. After spending most of his working life in Toronto, he took early retirement and returned to the Island in 1987. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Bertha (Nicholson) Bruce; brother Roland; sister Annabelle (Brehaut); and mother-in-law Ivy Baldieu. Besides his wife, he is survived by a sister, Marian Bruce of High Bank; niece Janice Krug of New York, and grand-nephews Cullen, Cavan and Caiden Krug. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1, at 2 p.m. in the Southern Kings and Queens Funeral Home chapel. Donations gratefully accepted for the P.E.I. Humane Society.
