KLASSEN, Gail Madeline. August 22, 1958-May 26, 2011. It is with tremendous heartache that we announce the passing of Gail Madeline Klassen. Gail was summoned to eternal rest by her Lord on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the age of 52 years following a 6 year battle with Wegener’s Disease. Lovingly referred to as “Punky”, Gail was born to parents Sid and Madeline Moffitt in Hampton, South Carolina on August 22, 1958. Following her high school graduation she spent a year studying business courses at the Medicine Hat College before working as a legal secretary in various law offices. In 1987 Gail left work, dedicating her life to being a homemaker; completing her family with the arrival of daughter Andrea and son Chad. Gail selflessly devoted herself to her children; active in both their school and extracurricular activities. Gail embraced her Christian faith, reading her Bible daily and volunteering as a Sunday School teacher for many years at the Lutheran Church. In the 1980’s she was an active member of “Pro Life” and was also a board member for the Low Income Housing Society in Fernie. Prior to her illness, Gail enjoyed gardening, camping, sewing and bowling. Though struggling with poor health being on oxygen for six years, Gail’s loving relationship with her Lord remained steadfast and strong. She continued to embrace those around her, inspiring them with her strength and courage. She will be forever remembered and always loved. Gail is lovingly survived by her husband Dennis and their children: Andrea (Chris) Taylor and Chad Klassen, her precious grandson Oliver Taylor, her parents Sid and Madeline, and her mother-in-law Mary Klassen. Also left to mourn her passing, siblings Gary Moffitt, Joyce (Darryl) Kettner, and John (Brenda) Moffitt as well as many aunts, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. She was predeceased by her father-in-law Jack Klassen and sister-in-law Virginia Friesen. The Klassen & Moffitt Family would like to thank Dr. Lowen for the comfort and care he provided to Gail during the past 6 years. Also the staff and residents at Rocky Mountain Village and the Tom Uphill Manor for the kindness, care and friendship they gave to Gail during the past year.
