Allison (Allie) Stewart BICKFORD

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Allison (Allie) Stewart Bickford, 67 of Truemanville, on Friday, June 7, 2019. Born September 11, 1951 in East Amherst, Allie was the son of the late Stewart and Leota (Trueman) Bickford. Allie was a dedicated worker for many years having worked in various trades. As a young graduate from carpentry school, Allie spent time working in Labrador. His carpentry skills also led him to build his own home and garage. Allie spent the majority of his career self-employed. He ran a plumbing and heating business for several years and was a certified oil burner mechanic and was W.E.T.T. certified. He spent many years driving a log truck and hauled wood all over the Maritimes. In the later part of his career, Allie enjoyed working in the blueberry fields with G.E. Collins and Sons. Allie’s passion for working with his hands and being outdoors kept him busy with various hobbies. In more recent years he enjoyed refurbishing antique tractors and spending many hours in Fenwick collecting and boiling maple sap each spring. In addition to his building and driving skills, Allie was naturally gifted with mechanics, and he was always the first call for family and friends. Allie served as a volunteer fire fighter with the Truemanville Fire Department for 41 years. Allie will be lovingly remembered by his children, Andrew (Lori), Fenwick, Shawna (Greg) Doucette, Amherst, and Marcey (Mike) Norton, St. John’s, NL; his grandchildren, Hannah, Olivia, Ayden, Kyle, and Maxwell; his sister, Donna Bickford, Orleans, ON; his Aunt Mildred (Bickford) Klerowski, Cumberland, Rhode Island; his Mother-in-law, Christine (Allen) Gould, Amherst, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his parents, Allie was recently predeceased by his wife, Linda (Gould) Bickford, and by a brother and sister in their infancy. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Truemanville Fire Hall on Saturday, June 15, 2019, from 1 – 4 p.m., 2389 Hwy 6, RR #4, Truemanville, NS, B4H 3Y2.
