COTTREAU, Jean Angus, of Yarmouth, NS, went to be with the Lord, May 30, 2019. Born September 16, 1934, in Wedgeport he was a son of the late Willie and Margaret (O’Donnell) Cottreau. Jean was the founder of the business West Pubnico Marine which became West Nova Marine and a well-respected residential landlord. He loved to play sports and was an avid baseball player in his youth. He was a 4th degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus and participated in other volunteer groups. He had a deep love of life that showed through his gentle and playful demeanor that was infectious to those around him. Jean was always there to help his friends and relatives and had the utmost dedication to his loved ones. Those who knew Jean loved and cherished him. Jean is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marie; daughter, Carrie Cottreau, Pennsylvania; sons, Darren (Allison) Cottreau, Yarmouth; Blair (Guylaine) Cottreau, Upper Tantallon; grandchildren, Anna (Ryan Underhill), Jillian, Dennis, Julia, Samantha, Will, Luke and Sarah; brothers, Ulysse (Jannette), Ted (Phyllis), Billy (Pamela); sister, Marie Cottreau; sisters in law, Jennie Cottreau and Pauline Cottreau. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Edwin and Bobby. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Funeral Mass took place Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 11 a.m. from the St Ambrose Co Cathedral, Yarmouth, Father Henry Smolenaars officiated. Interment in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery Columbarium. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Jean’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
