1944 – 2019 Former Trenton, N.S. resident, Lanny Ross, died unexpectedly in hospital at North Bay, Ontario on Saturday June 22, 2019, while in his 75th year. For the past 52 years he has been the devoted and loving husband of Karen (nee Samells). The proud and loving father of Joanne Iskander (Sam) of Hamilton, and David of North Bay, ON. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sister Shelley MacLean of Trenton, N.S., and his brother-in-law Barry Samells (Valorie) of Ridgeway, ON. Son of the late Hazel (MacLeod) Ross and James Ross, he was also
predeceased by his sister Lynda Chisholm (Alex) of Nova Scotia. Lanny went to North Bay in 1963 as a member of the RCAF serving in the military police. He left the air force to become a constable with the Ontario Provincial Police, then in 1967 joined the North Bay City Police. He retired from policing in the late 1980’s. Lanny had many interests from martial arts to a lifelong love of movies. An avid motorcyclist, he patrolled by motorcycle with the City Police, and continued riding after retiring. He was a gifted guitarist and writer and contributed to several publications. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Respecting his wishes his body has been cremated.
