Paul David Trainor Trainor

It is with deep sadness that we announce Detective/Constable Paul David Trainor completed his journey here on earth on Thursday, June 27, 2019. Paul passed peacefully at home surrounded by family and loved ones. Born September 1, 1968, Paul was the son of proud parents, Kay (Weeks) and Ernie Trainor. A devoted husband and father figure, Paul is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Jean Marie (MacDonald) and his beloved step-children, Mary Catherine (Adam) Arsenault, Andrew, Peter and Thomas; granddaughter, Berkeley Mae; brother, Robert Trainor (Jody); nephews Jacob and Jamison; parents-in-law, Rosemary (Gillis) and Ronald MacDonald. Paul had numerous aunts and uncles: Basil (Wanda) Trainor, Vernon (Mae) Trainor, Allan (Theresa) Trainor, Pius (Jan) Trainor, Eddie (Donna) Trainor, Bernie (Dave) Hunter, Mary (Claude) Fromont, Viola (Frank) Morris, Marie (Des, deceased) Roberts, Gus (deceased) (Mary) Trainor. Theresa Trainor, Mary Willoughby, Fairlie (Allison, deceased) Weeks and Bernard Weeks (deceased); grandparents Louis and Irene Trainor (deceased), Frank and Marie Weeks (deceased). Paul will be deeply missed by sisters-in-law, Rosanne (Brent) McQuaid, Mary (Greg) Callaghan; brothers-in-law, D.A. (Darlene) MacDonald, Ron (Erin) MacDonald and Mark (Patricia) MacDonald; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews all of whom have great respect and admiration for Paul. Paul will be sadly missed by the family dog, Ria. Paul was a graduate of Colonel Gray High School, the University of Prince Edward Island, Saint Mary’s University and the Atlantic Police Academy at Holland College. Paul loved serving as a police officer. Paul worked as a Detective/Constable with the Halifax Police Service for many years, and most recently enjoyed a multi-year secondment with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Paul’s fellow officers will dearly miss his friendship and camaraderie. Paul was particularly proud of his security work with the United Nations Service in Sierra Leone and the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Through Paul’s rich and rewarding life, he developed many exceptional relationships with family, friends, and colleagues. Loyalty, integrity and honour...Paul deeply appreciated his close circle of friends. Paul was truly loved by all and was recognized for significant volunteer work, a lifelong passion for soccer, and his newly acquired appreciation for speed skating. Paul leaves behind a legacy of dedication and commitment to the PEI soccer community. Visitation will be held at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Funeral Home, Sunday June 30, 2019, 5:00 pm- 8:00pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, on Monday, July 1, 2019, 10:00 am. Interment will take place at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown, followed by a reception at the Jack Blanchard Family Centre.
