COTTREAU, Arthur Andrew – Yarmouth, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019 at the age of 97. Born in Plymouth, Nova Scotia on July 3, 1921, he was a son of the late Hugh and Jane (Bond) Cottreau. He was a veteran of the second World War. Arthur retired as the meat manager for Save Easy and for the Royal Store. Arthur was a member of the Knights of Columbus, enjoyed singing in the Knights of Columbus choir, golfed in his younger years, squared danced with the Bluenose Twirlers and enjoyed his vegetable garden. Church was also a very important part of his life. Arthur is survived by his wife, Frances Mary (Thibeau), Yarmouth Heights; sons, James “Jim” Cottreau (Debbie), Shediac, NB and Fraser Cottreau (Emily), Yarmouth and daughter, Beverly (Ronald) Smith, Halifax; five grandchildren, Katelyn Cottreau, Laura Cottreau, Kristen Sheridan, Christopher Sheridan and Jeffrey Cottreau and his two great-grandchildren, Eva and Camden Sheridan. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth and there was no visitation. The funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 4 from Saint Ambrose Co-Cathedral, Yarmouth, Father Henry Smolenaars officiated. Interment followed in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association or Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at Veteran’s Place for the wonderful care and compassion that they showed Arthur during his stay with them.
