Keith Noble

NOBLE-Keith Mackaye Noble died at the age of 87 in Swift Current on June 7, 2011. He was born September 30, 1923 in Biggar, Saskatchewan. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1951 with a B. Ed. His teaching career began in Welwyn, Saskatchewan. In 1954, Keith moved his family to Leader, Saskatchewan where he taught English and Social Studies at Leader High School and he became the principal until 1966 when he and his family moved to Swift Current. Keith taught at O.M. Irwin Collegiate before he went to Swift Current Comprehensive High School when it opened in 1969. Keith taught Social Studies there until he retired in 1983. In both Leader and Swift Current, Keith was an avid curler and golfer. He loved most sports, but was a life long fan of curling, tennis, and hockey. Keith was also a keen bridge player and was active in the duplicate bridge club in Swift Current. Predeceased by his wife Kathleen (Kaye) in 2001, Keith is survived by his four children, Don (Patti) and daughters Erin and Laura of Calgary; Wendy and son Tyrell of Prince Albert; Glen (Carla) and daughters Sara and Nicole of Calgary; and Joan (Leonard) Monk of Swift Current and his step-grandchildren Trevor (Crystal). Tracie (Chris), Travis and Teresa (Ric Bye) and step-great-granddaughters Courtnie, Sydnie, and Westyn. Keith is also survived by his two brothers, Don (Phyl) and Ted (Marion), numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Evelyn Plewis, with whom he developed a close relationship in his later years and Nell Smith a wonderful neighbour for many years. Keith's wry sense of humour and dry wit will be missed by his family and many friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Swift Current Care Centre, in particular Elaine Garies, Bonnie Funk, and Darcy Ogloff for their compassionate care for Dad as well as Jim Roberts for always being there for Keith and his family. A memorial service will be held in Swift Current at a later date, with an announcement of date and time to follow in the Southwest Booster. Inurnment will follow in Unity, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the S.P.C.A, the Canadian Cancer Society, or charity of the donor's choice. Warren's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
