KILLAM, DELBERT EDWARD - Went to be with his Lord on June 14, 2011. Delbert passed away peacefully at TBRHSC. He was born on Oct. 22, 1938 in Moncton, New Brunswick and spent his early life there, moving to Ontario in 1964. Delbert became a licensed Optician in 1973 and worked at various optical dispensaries in Ontario before retiring in 2008 from the Wal-Mart Vision Centre in Thunder Bay. His hobbies included country music, reading, and hunting. He especially enjoyed the time spent at the hunting camp in Wisconsin with his son Dan. In retirement, he enjoyed cooking and woodworking. He poured his heart into making lasting memories for his grandchildren. His family was his joy in life, and time spent with his children and grandchildren were special times for him. He was a man of great faith and expressed his faith by saying he was not afraid to die, as it is just a transition from this life to the next. He leaves to mourn, his wife of 44 years Jean (Shaw) Killam and children; Dan, Madison WI, Lisa (Daniel Graham), Prince Albert, SK and Brad, Saskatoon, SK. His precious grandchildren; Wesley, Sarah and Emily Graham. He is also survived by his brothers Ivan (Valerie), Rae (Doris – predeceased) all of Moncton, NB, and Gordon (Betty) of Brantford. Brothers in law: Gordon Shaw (Marilynn) of Bruce Mines, ON, Elwin Shaw (Karen), Mindemoya, ON and Rev. Dale Shaw (Ann Marie) Lancaster, PA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Walter and Bernice (Berry), and brothers, Burle and Russell.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 21st at the Thunder Bay Free Methodist Church, 920 Sprague St. (corner of Sprague and Christina) with Pastor Andre Korstanje officiating. Reception to follow in the fellowship hall.If friends so desire donations to the Thunder Bay Free Methodist Church or the Cardiac Care unit at TBRHSC would be greatly appreciated by the family.
