RAYNARD, Edith Shirley - 89, of Raynardton, Yarmouth Co., passed away at Yarmouth Regional Hospital on June 12, 2011. Born August 15, 1921, in Raynardton, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Elizabeth (Bullerwell) Hamilton. Edith was a devoted church member of the Raynardton Free Baptist Church. She was a past Noble Grand of Opal Rebekah Lodge in Yarmouth, an active auxiliary member of the Lake Vaughan Volunteer Fire Department, a life member of the Missionary Society of Raynardton, former member of the Women's Institute of Tusket Falls and a member of the Friendly Neighbours Club. Edith was employed at Zeller's, worked for Nova Scotia Newstart and worked at the Manor Inn as a pastry chef. She had a very active part in the movie “The Scarlet Letter”. She had many hobbies, including: deer hunting, painting, gardening (she loved her roses), cooking and entertaining. Edith was proud of her family and loved each one of them dearly. She is survived by twin sons, Earle (Judy) Raynard of Tusket Falls and Donald (Carol) Raynard of Raynardton; daughters, Jane (Sherman) Dauphinee, Raynardton; Lois (David) Armstrong, Bell Neck; son, Gordon Raynard (Ginette Dulong), Raynardton; sisters, Laura Wood, Raynardton; Ethel Raynard, Tusket Falls; grandchildren, Grant, Holly, Jennifer, Jonathan, Scott, Craig, Kevin and Jim; 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband, Earle Sr.; brothers, Arnold, Harold, Lloyd and Donald; sister, Ardis Cook. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Tuesday, June 14 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held Wednesday, June 15 at 2 p.m. from Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Eric Whitehouse officiated. Interment followed in Greenlawn Cemetery. Flowers are welcomed. Donations in memory may be made to the Raynardton Free Baptist Church.
