Johnson, Dorothy Marion, 94 of the East River Apartments, New Glasgow formerly of Grant Street passed away June 24, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Spry Harbour, Halifax County she was a daughter of the late William and Emma(Smith)Hawes.
Dorothy had been a resident at East River Apartments for the past 3 years. In earlier years she has resided in Truro where she was employed at the former Nova Scotia Training School for some 5 years, moving to Montreal where she trained in Mental Health Nursing returning to truro to work at the Nova Scotia Training School for a further 7 years where she served as school matron.
She was a resident of New Glasgow for most of her married life where she was employed as Supervisor and Assistant Administrator at the former Sunset Haven Guest Home for 18 years.
She was a former member of the Anglican Church as well as a member of the Trinity United Church in New Glasgow.
She is survived by her son Keith(Dianne), New Glasgow; grandsons: Adam, Ryan and Zachary, 3 nieces and a nephew.
She was predeceased by her husband Verdun and a sister Eileen Bollong.
Her remains are resting in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral services will be held 11am Monday from Trinity United Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Jim Webber-Cook presiding.
Burial to take place in the Lorne Street Cemetery, New Glasgow.
A reception will take place in the Church Hall.
