It is with sadness that the family of James G. Harris announce his passing, at his home in Westcook, NB, on Friday, July 1, 2011. Born in Knutsford, P.E.I. on Sept. 3, 1929, he was the son of the late Lewis and Iva May (Adams) Harris. James was a member of the Corinthian Lodge # 19, O'Leary. He was passionate about harness racing and playing cards and also enjoyed taking in a good hockey game on television or at the rink. James loved spending time with his family and friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. James is survived by his wife of eight years, Alberta (Tower) Harris, of Westcock, NB; four sons, Robert (Dianne), of Charlottetown, Ron (JoAnn), of Halifax, NS, Randy (Carol), of Summerside, and Richard (Tracey), of Calgary, AB; step-daughter, Norma (Chris) Novak, of Sackville, NB; 11 grandchildren, Jill, Tim, Chad, Brett, Jamie, Matthew, Devon, Katie, Mike, Brandon and Nadia; two great-grandchildren, Ruby June and Saul; two step-grandchildren, Samantha Hall and Stirling Hall; brother, Winburn (Isabel), of Knutsford; three sisters, Audrey Leard, and Norma (Percy) Sentner, both of O'Leary, and Barb Harris, of Charlottetown; brothers-in-law, Chester Tower, of Westcock, NB; Ken (Janet) MacIsaac, Gerald (Claretta) MacIsaac and George Allen MacIsaac; sisters-in-law Phyllis, Erma (Bob) Fraser and Hazel (Don) Gamble and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce (MacIsaac); infant daughter, Iva Floy; his parents, Lewis and Iva (Adams) Harris; in-laws, Banford and Mabel (Read) Tower, and Alvin and Floy MacIsaac; brothers-in-law, Vincent Tower, Elmer Smith, Gary MacDonald and Harry Leard. Resting at the Ferguson Funeral Home and Chapel, O'Leary with visiting hours on Thursday 2-4 p.m., followed by a funeral service in the Chapel at 4 p.m. Interment to follow in the Springfield West Baptist Church Cemetery. In memory of James, memorials to the Springfield West Baptist Church Cemetery would be appreciated.
