1929 - 2011

With great sadness we share the loss of our dear wife, mother and Nana, Helen Olson. Helen passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 82 years of age.

She was born in Bellis, Alberta on February 13, 1929. Helen made her way to BC to pick berries, where she met her life long friend Walda Wood. They travelled together to Kamloops, where she worked at a cannery and met her husband Gordon of 63 years. Helen was a very selfless, caring and nurturing wife, mother and grandmother, who loved children with a passion. Mom loved her flower gardens and would spend hours tending to them.

Helen is survived by her loving husband Gordon John Olson, children Charlotte (Rick) Collins, Robert (Michelle) Olson, and Douglas Olson, all of Kamloops, grandchildren Christin Foottit, Shawn Collins, Chantal (Graham) Nessman, William Olson and Emma Olson, great grandchildren Reighanna Collins, Mikkiah Foottit, Tristin Foottit, Richard Collins and Emma Collins, sister Vicki (Bert) Gaschnitz, brothers Tom Lenko and Wally (Lena) Lenko, close sister-in-law Merle Newman, close brother-in-law Gerald (Gladys) Olson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents William and Sandra Lenko, sister Pearl Billey, and brothers Alex Lenko, Archie Lenko, Andy Lenko, Victor Lenko and Roy Lenko.

Memorial Donations in memory of Helen may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 111-450 Lansdowne St., Kamloops, BC V2C 1Y3 or to a charitable organization of your choice.

The Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2011 at the First Baptist Church, 454 Columbia Street.
