LeBLANC, Mary Alice – 90, Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton, formerly of Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 with family at her side. Born September 6, 1920 in Lower Wedgeport, she was a daughter of the late George Édouard and Anne Delphine (LeBlanc) Doucette. She and her husband were lighthouse keepers at the Tusket River lighthouse (l’Ile-à-Molue), having also worked as a fish processor. Alice was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 155 Wedgeport, as well as the Wedgeport New Horizons, and she enjoyed playing bingo and cards. Surviving are her three daughters, Pauline M. (Victor) LeBlanc, Lower Wedgeport; Jeanne C. (Arthur) d’Entremont and Shirley E. D. (Keith) d’Entremont, both of Lower West Pubnico; grandchildren, Sharon (Joe) Southern, Floyd (Carla) LeBlanc, Francois (Duana) d’Entremont, Derek (Joelle) d’Entremont, Coralie Joudrey and Loretta (Colin) Nickerson; 10 great grandchildren and a great-great grandson. Also surviving are sisters, Geraldine (John) Twiddle, Wasaga Beach, ON and Lillian Piggott, Toronto. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Rémi F. LeBlanc; grandchildren, Billy and Laurent; a great grandson, Colby; siblings, Jane Thibodeau, Laurent Doucette, Patrick Doucette, Alvin Doucette, Nora Norman, Betty Rocke, Catherine Lukian and Billy Doucette. Visitation took place from 2-4 & 7-9 Thursday, with a Royal Canadian Legion Service at 7:30 p.m., followed by prayers at 8 p.m. all in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport. The funeral mass was held on Friday, July 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church, Wedgeport, Father Wieslaw Papuga officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. It has been requested that there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
