CURRIE, Ellen E. – of Advocate Harbour, Cumberland County. She lived a life of quiet strength, dignity, elegance and love. She was our heart and our rock. She was our wife, mother, mother-in-law, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and so much more. She will be missed immensely by those of us who knew and loved her well, but will live forever in our hearts and minds. She was, Ellen Currie nee Dunbar and was born in 1938 in Spencer’s Island to Alexander (Sandy) and Annie Dunbar and passed away on July 9, 2011 following a courageous battle with cancer. Married to her husband, G. Darrold Currie for 51 years, they enjoyed a very special love. They had three children, Cindy (Shaun), Richard (Ginette) and Laurie (Cindy) and five grandchildren, Jessica, Jenna, Heidi, Tyler and Maddison, who held a very special place in their grandmother’s heart. Ellen was predeceased by her father Sandy and sister Roma. She is survived by her mother, Annie; sister Leah (Dale); brothers John and Lorne. There will be no funeral service. Private committal service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bayview Memorial Health Centre Foundation, Advocate Harbour.
