DOUCET, Pierre (Siffroi) – Nakile Home for Special Care, Argyle, formerly of Wedgeport, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2011 at the age of 96. He was born on July 6, 1915, a son of the late Edmund Doucet and Thérèse LeBlanc. He was close to his church and his God. He was a man of strong faith. In his early years, he worked for the Halifax Chronicle. Later in life, he worked in the insurance business with the L.G.Trask Company, in the investment field of Mutual Funds and also worked for the French newspaper Le Petit Courier selling ads. He also sold monuments for Dauphinee Memorial Art Ltd., owned a grocery store in Lower Wedgeport and worked for the Family Court of Nova Scotia. He then changed his line of work by selling cars for Dodge and Chrysler. At the time of his retirement, insurance and the sale of monuments were his employment. He was a founding member of the Wedgeport Credit Union, Wedgeport Fire Department and the Wedgeport Council 6505 Knights of Columbus. He is survived by daughters Simone (P. Earl) Muise, Surette’s Island; Louise Anne Doucet, Trail, B.C; son Thomas (Gisèle) Doucet, Sluice Point; grandchildren Nicole d’ Entremont, Lise (Joel) Goodwin, Denis (Amanda) Doucet; great-grandchildren Mylène, Maxime, Manon d’Entremont, Aiden and Elias Goodwin. Also survived by brother Rodolphe (Charlotte) Doucet, Tidal View Manor, Yarmouth; brother-in-law Benoit (Pauline) Saulnier, Meteghan, many nieces and nephews. Beside his parents he was predeceased by his wife of 44 years Emma (Saulnier) and infant son Nil; sisters Yvonne (Albert) Pothier, Esther (Louis) Doucet, Madeline (George) Surette, Pauline (Ronald) Ellis and brother Eddie (Pauline) Doucet. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday with prayers at 8 p.m. in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport. The funeral mass was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 23 at Saint Michael’s Church, Wedgeport. Father Wieslaw Papuga officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Saint Michael’s cemetery fund, the IWK Hospital Foundation or to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation of their excellent care and compassion to Dr. Roland Muise, Dr. Julie Chandler, the staff of Villa Acadienne, Meteghan and Nakile Home for Special Care to make Dad’s journey in life complete.
