It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Esther Moen after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Esther was born March 20, 1953 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and passed away July 21, 2011 in Innisfail, Alberta. Esther was predeceased by her father Harold Clothier in 1999 and her father-in-law Nelson Moen in 1998. Esther is survived by her Husband Barry, sons Lee (Cheryl) - Moose Jaw; Tim (Michelle), grandsons Corben, Justinn, Kaden and Mason - Blackfalds. Her mother Violet Clothier- Moose Jaw, Brothers Ian (Jane) - Moose Jaw, Raymond (Karen) - Saskatoon, sister Heather Johnson - Moose Jaw. Mother-in-law Eunice Moen - Porcupine Plain. Brothers-in-law Ian (Linda) - Michigan, Dale (Linda) - Saskatoon, Robin - Weyburn, sisters-in-law Brenda(Alex) - Porcupine Plain, Gail (John) – Calgary. Along with several aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Esther was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and mother in law. Her passions were numerous including her art work, painting, and family. Esther loved to cook and bake including baking cakes for special occasions and catering large functions. Esther was heavily involved with the Foresters Branch 464 in Red Deer and held numerous executive positions including Chief Ranger. Family was very important for Esther and she cherished every minute with them. She also loved to travel heading wherever Barry would take her. She had a special place in her heart for the Rocky Mountains as well as the prairies. Memorial donations in Esther’s memory can be directed to; The Alberta Cancer Foundation c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre 1331 – 29 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta T2N 4N2. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Metcalf Funeral Chapel, Innisfail. Condolences to the family can be forwarded from www.metcalffuneralchapel.com.
