BROTHERS, REV. WARREN L. - Rev. Warren Louis Brothers of Saint John, husband of Florence G. (Naves) Brothers, went to be with Jesus on Sunday morning, July 24, 2011. He was born in Saint John on August 6, 1937, a son of the late Reginald and Maude (Bree) Brothers. Pastor Brothers graduated from the Saint John Vocational School, and became a pipefitter by trade, working at the pulp mills in Saint John. In 1969, he graduated with high honours from Zion Bible Institute, and when he returned to Saint John, he founded the Crescent Valley Community Church, now known as the Crescent Valley Gospel Centre, ministering to people from all walks of life. He loved sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to anyone who crossed his path. In his younger years, Pastor Brothers was an avid member of PRUDE, and in his later years he and his wife ministered in song to many of the nursing home residents of the city. He always enjoyed attending outdoor gospel events, and was an accomplished recording musician. He and Florence attended the Renewed Hope Church of God on Loch Lomond Road. In addition to his wife, Pastor Brothers is survived by his children, Tamara Brothers of Fredericton, Charles Brothers of Saint John, Warren Brothers Jr. (Amanda) of Saint John, and Vanessa Brothers (fiancé John Bradley) of Barnesville; grandchildren Warren Gary Brothers III and Taylor Cook; sisters Marlene Howe (David) of Saint John and Joan Marsden of Indianapolis, Indiana; brothers Reginald Brothers (Barb) of Toronto, Emery Brothers of Toronto, Cecil Brothers of Yarmouth, NS, and Peter Brothers of Vancouver; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pastor Brothers was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth-Ann (McIntyre) Brothers; sisters Martha Middleton, Dorothy, Alice and Lois; and by brothers Tony, Bill, and George.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery.
