It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Gordon Simmons, BA, BCL, LLM, on Aug. 3, 2011 at Kingston General Hospital with his wife Betty at his side and his family close by. He will be forever remembered by his wife Betty, his children; Steven, Sharon, Trent and his wife Johanne, his grandchildren; Daisy, Alexander, Harrison, Mitchell, Tristan, and Charlotte, and his brothers Walter and Don, and his sister Edythe. Gordon touched countless people through his career as Professor Emeritus at Queens University, as an Arbitrator, and simply as the kindest gentleman who always reached out to any and all, to guide and support. His sense of humour never faltered, joking and flirting with the nurses to the end. To quote Gordon: “We always question the reasons 'why' when a loved one is taken from our midst so young. The only explanation I have been able to come up with is – it is God's will – He takes the best from us too early.”

Rest In Peace Pepe – We all love you.

A memorial reception will be held in Kingston, Ont., at the James Reid Funeral Home Reception Centre, 1900 John Counter Blvd. on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Kingston Humane Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
