It is with great sadness that the families of Michael Stephen Simon announce his sudden passing at his family residence in Deer Lake, N.L, on Saturday, August 6th, 2011, at the age of 88 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his children; David (Judy), Joan (Peter) Rowsell, Mary (Stephen) Roberts, Joyce (Barry) Slade, Amos Simon (Dianna), Patricia (Brian) Wellon, Rosalie (Terrance) Barnes, & Sean (Lynette), his 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, & 1 great great grandchild, his son in law; Jacob Thornhill, his sister in laws; Mrs. Lucy Simon, Mrs. Marion Russell, & Mrs. Jean Lucas, also leaves to mourn a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives family and friends. Michael was predeceased by his wife; Mildred Marie nee Bennett, his parents; Philomena nee Chassion, & Joseph Simon, his son; Michael Jr (Mick), daughter; Jean Thornhill, father & mother in law; Mary Ellen Rubia & Joseph Bennett. Michael was the last living sibling of his family. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Deer Lake, in Michael's memory would be gratefully appreciated by the family. The family will be receiving family and friends from Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, N.L. today Monday, August 8th, 2011, from the hours of 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm. The Funeral mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, August 9th, 2011 at 10:30 am at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Deer Lake, N.L., with Mons: Jim Robertson officiating with the burial to follow at the family plot of Wight's Road, Cemetery in Deer Lake, N.L.
