Elizabeth Blakeman

Elizabeth (Betty) May Blakeman (Reid), age 74 of Joggins, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Betty was the oldest daughter to Murray & Sophie Reid (Hebert) predeceased.
Betty was born and raised in Joggins. As a young girl she enlisted in the Royal Canadian Medical Corp in 1958. It was here Betty received her Registered Nursing Assistants Degree and met her husband, John. They were engaged December 1958 and wed May 21, 1960, celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary in Ontario surrounded by friends and family while on vacation. After raising her son and daughter, Betty later retired to her home town of Joggins with her husband, becoming a proud member of the Joggins Legion Women’s Auxiliary graciously serving her community and those in need.
Betty will be greatly missed by all as she had a knack for putting a smile on everyone’s face and making them laugh with her comical outlook on life. She loved joking and laughing with friends and family at her favourite past time: BINGO.
