June Florine (Flo) Minnikin (Campbell)

June 7, 1926-July 30, 2011
Beloved wife of Frederick S. Minnikin, passed away peacefully at her home on July 30, 2011, at the age of 85.
Flo was predeceased by her husband, Frederick S. Minnikin and her son, Frederick C. Minnikin, who passed away suddenly in September of 2010.
Flo was born in Montague, P.E.I., to Angus Fulton Campbell and Mae C. Campbell (MacQueen). She was educated in Montague and later attended Mount Allison University in Sackville, N.B. Flo was a founding member and parishioner of St. Giles Presbyterian Church in Baie-d’Urfe, PQ, from 1955 until 1966. For the past 39 years, she was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Saint David in Halifax. She loved attending church services and being actively involved in the Ladies Guild, along with various other committees. Flo and Fred played golf for 35 years and were members of the Halifax Curling Club, the Oakfield Country Club and the Ashburn Golf Club in Halifax. They were also members of the Brudenell River Golf Course where they spent their summers at their cottage in Montague, P.E.I. When Flo became physically unable to play golf, she filled the void by watching golf on television on a daily basis. She also enjoyed watching her Blue Jays play baseball, as did her late son Rick. Flo’s passion was playing the piano; she could always be heard singing or humming a tune to herself.
Flo is survived by her brother, Donald Campbell (Mildred), Charlottetown; her beloved son, John Minnikin (Francine); her three grandchildren, Frederick Gabriel, Ruth Mae and Amy Florine Minnikin; her daughter-in-law, Frances MacEachen. She is also survived by two nephews and one niece.
Special mention and heartfelt thanks are extended from Flo’s family to her caregivers Kelly and Bonnie for their compassion and unconditional love.
Special thanks are extended to Mary, Flo’s hairdresser of many years, who pampered Flo during her long journey. Flo will remain in our hearts forever.
Cremation has taken place with interment at a later date in Montague, P.E.I.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at the Presbyterian Church of Saint David, 1544 Grafton Street, Halifax. Rev. Kenn Stright officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall.
