With great sadness, the family of Ron Whidden announces his passing on July 13th, 2011 in Nanaimo B.C. Ron was predeceased by father Keith and mother Ruth. He is survived by past spouse Theresa, brother Tom and sister-in-law Liz, nieces Megan and Erin and nephews Shannon and Patrick, grand-nieces and nephews and aunts, uncles and much loved cousins. Although born in Niagara Falls, Ron called Pictou County home. He led a peripatetic early life in Ontario, the Canadian North, British Columbia and in Australia. Later in life, he settled in Nanaimo where he is best remembered behind the wheel of one of his yellow taxis, ready to share a joke with friends and passengers to lighten their spirits. Ron died peacefully in his sleep. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial will be held in the Westville Legion from 3 to 5 PM on Tuesday, August 16th. Make a donation to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
