McLENNAN - Rick age 60 years of Swift Current, Saskatchewan and formerly of Bracken, Saskatchewan died at his home in Swift Current on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born at Climax, Saskatchewan on September 4, 1950 and received his education at Bracken, Climax and Shaunavon. Rick started farming at the age of 16 years with his father. He raised wild boars for about ten years while farming which was quite a challenge but which he enjoyed. He was an avid pilot. Over the years Rick had worked at a variety of jobs before starting his own business, Macbros Construction contracting out to the oilfield industry. He was predeceased by his father Donald on June 6, 2008, and sister Barbara and nephews John and Greg and niece Carly on April 11, 1993. He is survived by two sons Chad (Farah) of Calgary and Dean (Melissa) of Langdon, Alberta, his significant other Kathy Oborowsky of Swift Current, his mother Doris McLennan of Shaunavon, two brothers Raymond (Janet) of Calgary and Gordon (Carol) of Vancouver, sister Audrey Carleton (Gary) of Weyburn, brother-in-law Brian Niven (Eileen) of Creston, B.C., sister-in-law Ann McLennan of Calgary and three nephews Sam McLennan of Red Deer, Thomas Carleton and Jack Carleton both of Weyburn. A Celebration of Rick’s life was held at Shaunavon Elks Hall on Friday, August 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Funeral Celebrant Bernadette Schneider officiating. A family tribute was presented by Audrey Carleton. Reed Miller and Kathy Smith accompanied by Wendy Thienes provided special music. Interment of his cremated remains preceded the service at Hillcrest Cemetery at Shaunavon. Binkley's Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements. Urn Bearers were Chad McLennan, Dean McLennan, Sam McLennan, Thomas Carleton and Jack Carleton.
