
Gary Greer
GREER, GARY CHARLES - It is with heavy hearts that the family announce Gary Greer, peacefully went to sleep August 13, 2011 at his home in Harvey, NB.Gary was born December 8, 1955, the son of Verna (Chessie) Greer and the late Donald Greer. When Gary was able in his younger years he loved to fish. He made his first venture to Thompson Manitoba as a young man, then again to Calgary, Alberta a few years later. A carpenter by trade Gary helped build the Dr. Chalmers Regional Hospital. In 1972 Gary was diagnosed with Diabetes, and in 1999 was a recipient of a kidney and was given a second chance at life. In 2007 he had to have heart surgery, unfortunately all these factors together took a toll on Gary and his health slowly deteriorated. Gary loved spending time at Gram and Gramp Chessie’s family homestead in Yoho, looking forward to spending special occasions with his family. Gary was able to maintain his independence, thanks to the Harvey Outreach, wonderful neighbours and his family. Aside from his mom Verna, he is survived by sisters Marilyn (Robert) of Yoho, Stephanie (Pat) of Acton; brothers Wayne (Bridgette) of Blackie, AB., Mark (Heather) of Calgary, AB., nieces and nephews Jonathon, Angela, Jennifer, Sandy, Jessica, Willie, Chip, and Ben; great nieces and nephews Nicholas, Grace and Maisie; special friend Barbara Whittaker-Shannon.
Visitation will be held Wednesday at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road from 6 to 9 PM. Funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday at 2 PM, Rev. Monte Peters officiating. Interment in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Hanwell, NB. Pallbearers will be Micheline Kitchen, Lynn Craig, Linda Hutley, Paula Grant, Darlene Hood, and Teresa Messer; Honorary Pallbearers are Steve Duffy, Dave Black and Doug Perrin.
