Karolyn Gietz

Karolyn Gietz

This is a farewell tribute to Karolyn Gietz (Nee Bingham), born August 21, 1945. She passed on August 7, 2011 after a 10 year battle with cancer. Small in structure (4'11") she never quite made her desired 5' mark, but she sure tried. Her signature was her great smile (always smiling) and laugh.
Raised in Hazlet, she took a hairdressing course and also built bins with her brother Clifton (without power tools), then in 1980 married Dwayne where they farmed. In 1990 they moved to Swift Current. She loved going to church, music, especially country and gospel, she knew song lyrics to fit almost any situation and could usually sing them too. She loved knitting, crocheting, embroidery, making afghans, curling, doing puzzle books of all kinds, playing cards and scrabble. She also loved to dance and had the Maple Creek Old Time Fiddlers play at our wedding.
Never interested in material needs, her only goal in life was to be happy and to make others around her the same, be they her family, her friends and acquaintances, her church family (Fairview Bible) and others.
She is survived by her husband Dwayne, her children Merlin and Twyla, son-in-law Scott and soon to be daughter-in-law Crystal and her children Allie and Billy, her sisters Patsy and Millie, her sisters-in-law Irene, Mary, Audrey, Jeanette and Sharon, her brothers Mervin and Ted and her brother-in-law Stan. Also her grand kitty Reba.
She was predeceased by her parents Ralph and Emma, brothers Clifton and Ron, nephew Kurt, brothers-in-law Clayton, Keith and Ed.
Karolyn was a professional worrier, worried that she would do or say something that would hurt or offend someone or that she wasn't doing enough to help others. Now she is up in heaven doing work for the Lord, smiling down on us with her signature smile, adding another bright star to the sky.
Culham/Bowers Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements. For further information call 773-5110 or 1-800-799-5110 or visit our web site at www.culhambowersfuneralhome.com and express your sympathy to family members in our book of condolences.
