She had a beautiful heart and beautiful smile that brought sunshine to your day. Mary "Louise" Hamel was born on a farm near Edam, SK on April 28th, 1925. She was one of nine children born to Georgina and Alcide Hamel. As a young adult, Louise enrolled in a seamstress course in Saskatoon, SK where she met her husband to be, Bruno Deschamps. Louise and Bruno began their marriage of 52 years in Riverhurst, SK. They were blessed with three sons before moving to Willow Bunch in the 1950's. In 1963, Louise and Bruno relocated to Swift Current, SK where Louise worked as a seamstress and as a sales person at a local drug store. During their retirement Louise and Bruno built a cabin at Lac Pelletier. The years followed with many happy summers at the cabin and winters in Saskatoon. Bruno went to be with the Lord in 1998. Shortly after, Louise moved to Medicine Hat in 2001. A devout Catholic, Louise spent much of her life studying her faith and even embarked on a trip to the Holy Land. Louise will remain in the hearts of her sons Guy (Marg), Gerry (Roseanne), Rene (Anne), Denis (Laura); her 24 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother Roger (Elinor); and her sister Rose; sisters in law Vera Hamel and Grace Provo; brother in law Alban (Phylis) Deschamps and many nieces and nephews.
