Gladys L. White, 95, of Chelmsford, Mass. passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 14 in hospital after a brief illness. Born in Brockton, Mass. she was the beloved daughter of the late Elvin and Lucy (Wilds) Marshall and the widow of the late Donald P. White. Mrs. White was raised in Nova Scotia and lived on Shore Road in Digby for many years before moving to Chelmsford six years ago. She was the loving mother of Judith A. Peck and her husband, Robert A. of Billerica, Mass., and Gail L. Giannetto and her husband, Tony of Wakefield, Mass. She was the beloved grandmother of Robert C. Peck of Tewksbury, Mass.; Nancy E. Sousa and her husband Kenneth of Tyngsboro, Mass.; Steven J. Peck of Dracut, Mass.; and Beth-Ann Lowe Marino. Mrs. White leaves four great-grandchildren, Kenneth and Matthew Sousa and Andrew and Abigail Peck. She also leaves her sister Rebecca of Belle Isle and her sister-in-law Charlotte White of Digby. Also, several nephews and nieces in Massachusetts and Nova Scotia. Mrs. White spent her life as a homemaker and was a member of Trinity Anglican Church in Digby and the Order of Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron of the St. Mary’s Chapter in Nova Scotia. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, handwork, reading, crossword puzzles, her church and Bible study and playing the piano. She will be lovingly remembered for her kindness and generosity. A graveside burial service will be held by Rev. Mel Malton of Trinity Anglican Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, in Forest Hill Anglican Cemetery, Digby. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Trinity Anglican Church, 109 Queen Street, Digby, or St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, 14 Treble Cove Road, Billerica, Mass., 01862.
