WEPPLER -James “Jim” Ross Weppler passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK at age 75. Jim was born on August 11, 1936, at Morse, SK, the sixth son of John & Olave Weppler. He grew up in the Rolling Plains district, where he took his schooling and helped his dad and brothers farm. In 1959, Jim started driving school bus and drove until 1973. He enjoyed playing ball and played in the mainline softball league with the Morse Team from 1964 - 1970. He purchased the John Henselin farm in 1953, and farmed it until 1996. Jim purchased the Morse Tire Shop from Charlie Tremblay in 1970: selling Husky gas, repairing tires, 11 years as a welding shop, and eventually as a small engine repair shop until 2004. This work he really enjoyed, working with Roy, Ralph and Ben. Jim served as secretary for the Ernfold 4H Club, served on the Morse Rec. Board, was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge, and was President for the Morse Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club in the late 60’s - early 70’s. Jim worked for 2 years at the Vintage Power Machine Museum at Prince Albert where he was a member and was very proud of the many friends he made there. He was also a member of the Sukanen Ship Museum in Moose Jaw and Deep South Museum at Ogema. Jim enjoyed traveling to the different threshing shows, displaying different tractors and stationary engines, especially the one and only 9 motor tractor. He enjoyed going to auction sales where many different tractors and engines were purchased, most restored at later dates. He retired in 2004, continuing on with his hobbies of restoring old machinery and tractors. Jim married Paulena Weinbender on June 27, 1975, who had 3 sons, Wayne, Stan and Dwight. Many happy years were enjoyed traveling with Paullina, Walter & Sophie in the motor home, and also Chuck & Isabel on their trip to Alaska in the motor home. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Paulena; step-son, Dwight: grandchildren, Colin, Bonita, Kim, Carly and Joni; step-daughter, Claire Weinbender; and by brothers, Don, Bob and Chuck. He was predeceased by step-sons, Wayne in 2002, Stan in 2007; step-daughter, Geraldine in 2010; his father, John in 1985; his mother, Olave in 1955; and by his brothers, Harold in 1999, Roy in 2007, and Ralph in infancy. A Private Family Service will be held at a later date.
