The family is saddened to announce the sudden passing of Curtis Randall Braaten on August 25, 2011 at the age of 37. Curtis was predeceased by his Grandparents Edwin & Kaye Braaten, Everett & Irene Haggard, Uncle Rodney Skeates, and Stepmother Diane Braaten. Curtis is survived by his father Milton Braaten (Barb Winquist), his mother Bernice Braaten, sister Kim (Alan) Dedman, nieces Parker & Sawyer, brother Brandt (Carla) Braaten, nephews Connor & Eric and sister Kati Braaten, along with many uncles, aunts and cousins. Curtis was born on April 22, 1974 in Calgary, AB. He attended school in Abbey, SK and College Park Elementary School in Saskatoon. He graduated from Evan Hardy Collegiate in Saskatoon in 1992. After studying Computer Science at the University of Saskatchewan, he moved to the family farm near Abbey where he worked for his father farming and raising cattle. Curtis was talented and mastered many things. Anything that he was interested in, he did with passion. Some of his interests included hockey and various other sports, 4-H, aviation, motor-cross, drawing and guitar. In later years he developed a deep interest for astronomy and the sciences. Curtis will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Curt – you taught us the importance of living life with passion and compassion; for that we are grateful. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Curtis was held at Hillcrest Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2011. (Take 8th Street East to the first turn off past Briargate Rd.).
