Dorothy Gillies (nee Clark) passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday October 7, 2009. Dorothy was born on June 20, 1922 in Moose Jaw where she lived all her life. Grandma Dot, as she was known by those who loved her most, will be remembered as a caring mother, a confidant to her grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother. Dorothy was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was fortunate to have many special friends who she enjoyed playing bingo and cards with throughout her life. Predeceased by her husband Don Gillies; Dorothy is survived by her daughter Dianne, sons Doug (Susan) and Clark (Pam); eight grandchildren Holly (Norm), Nora (Jamey), Allison (Ryan), Courtney (Bart), Matthew (Jennifer), Jocelyn (Joe), Brooke (Angelo), Brianna (Justin); and four great-grandchildren Charlie, C.J., William and Autumn. A Memorial Tea to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at St.Andrew’s United Church Social Hall on Wednesday October 14, 2009 from 2 – 4 pm. Flowers are graciously declined. Memorial donations may be made to the Moose Jaw Hospital Foundation, 455 Fairford St. E, S6H 1H3. In living memory of Dorothy, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
