Cochrane, Gary Keith - age 70, of Gypsum Mines, Hants County, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2011, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born on July 25, 1941, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He had worked with the Fundy Gypsum Company and Aberdeen Paving in his early years, and had retired from Cochrane’s Electrical Contracting Limited, in 2010. Gary was a past member of the Windsor Gyro Club. Gary is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Sharron E. Harvey; sons, Kevin (Janine) Cochrane, Brooklyn; Scott (Angela) Cochrane, Grand Lake; granddaughter, Jillian Cochrane, Halifax; brother, Wayne (Florence) Cochrane, Lower Sackville; sisters, Gladys (Ken) Best, Coldbrook; Beverly MacKenzie, in New Brunswick; Joanne (Murray) Singer, Mosherville; Patricia (Ed) Brown, Brooklyn; several nieces and nephews. Gary was predeceased by his mother, Constance Feltmate; grandparents, Laurie and Sophie Hawboldt. Visitation was 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, September 1, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2011, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Bill Gibson officiated, followed by a reception in the Lindsay Family Reception Centre. A private family interment was in the Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix, Hants County. Family flowers only, donations in memory of Gary, were requested to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
