It is with great sadness and peace we announce the passing of Peter Anthony McNeil on Aug. 31, 2011, in Oshawa, Ont.
Son of the late Anthony and Christena McNeil, he was a former resident of Centerville Street, Reserve Mines, but lived most of his life in Scarborough, Ont.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Roderick ‘Beppy’; sister, Helen ‘Duxie’ Power; wife, Catherine; daughter, Helen; son-in-law, John Brown and great-granddaughter, Molly.
He is survived by his children, Maureen, Judy Brown (Gord), Ron and Dan (Christine); grandchildren, Sean (Kathy), Jennifer (Dwayne), Liam (Julie), Ryan (Betty), Braeden, Matthew and Rachel; great-grandchildren, Seamus, Jake, Brett, Jane-Claire, Quinn and Kate. At the time of his passing he was awaiting the birth of two more great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a litany of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His Blue Jay buddy, Lawrence, will miss him dearly.
Peter was born in New Waterford, where he worked as a coal miner before joining the Royal Canadian Air Force to serve in the Second World War. After the war he moved to Toronto, where he was an employee of Massey Ferguson for 34 years. he was an active member of St. Maria Goretti parish for over 50 years, before moving to Oshawa. Hillsdale Terraces was the last place Peter called home.
He was a true, gentle soul, whose presence is already missed.
The wake and funeral has taken place.
