James Steele passed away Sept. 5, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer surrounded by his family. He resided at the Braemore Home in Sydney River.
James was predeceased by his parents, Mary Helen and Daniel Steele, sister, Mary Tutty, brothers, Alex, Henry, Daniel, two sisters, and one brother in infancy.
James is survived by daughter, Marlaine Steele, granddaughters, Shayna and Nicole, all of Ontario; sister, Catherine Ogley (Steele), Reserve Mines; brother, Hugh Steele, British Columbia; many nieces and nephews and his special friends at the Braemore.
James had a special friendship with Cyril Hill, who James would call his nephew. James was loved, and will sadly be missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has already taken place. There will be a memorial mass at St. Joseph’s Parish, Reserve Mines, Thursday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m.
