The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, of Lester “Belford” MacDonald, of Summerside, aged 90 years. Veteran of Second World War and the Korean War. Born in Travellers Rest, he was the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Baker) MacDonald. Survived by his children Allan (Mary) MacDonald, Summerside; Debbie Piras, Summerside; Lorna (Brian) McDonald, Mississauga, Ont.; Peter MacDonald, Summerside; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife Irene (Clow) MacDonald; great-granddaughters Jessica and Jasmine Bourque; brothers Duncan, Thomas, Courtney and Lawson MacDonald; and sisters Agnes Gallant, Laura Ramsay and Alice MacDonald. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Friday, then to St. Paul’s Cemetery, Summerside, where a graveside service will be held at 12 noon. No visiting hours by family request. Memorial donations to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Members of the Summerside Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute service at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Friday at 12 noon.
