The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by family at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer, of Eileen Peters (nee Gauthier) of Oyster Bed Bridge, age 70.
Eileen was the beloved wife of Alfred "Pookie"; dear mother of Lisa Whalen, Craig (Charlotte) and Paul (Tamara); and precious mema of Kaya Whalen and Wyatt Peters. She is also survived by her sisters, Bernadine Stead (Wilf) of Toronto and Barbara Gallant (Nacey) of Montreal; brother, Marcellus Gauthier of Toronto; sisters-in-law, Stella Grant (Henry), Anita Doucette (Eric), Gloria Primeau and Mae Coffin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Eileen was predeceased by her parents, William and Alice (Pineau) Gauthier; and her sisters, Pauline Walsh (Dave) and Rosina Blacquiere (Urban).
Resting at Central Queen's Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Thursday, September 8, 2011, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, South Rustico, on Friday, September 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery. Due to severe allergies please refrain from using scented products.
