Wilma "Anne" Waugh

WAUGH, WILMA “ANNE" - We are saddened to announce the passing of Anne Waugh, wife of Richard, which occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Wednesday, September 7th, 2011. Born on February 24th, 1934 in Aroostook Junction, NB she was the daughter of the late Richard and Pearl (Durost) Downing. Anne leaves behind her dear husband of 56 years, Richard Waugh of Fredericton, NB. Anne was the beloved mother of Peter (Janet) of Port Hastings, NS, Michael (Pam), Douglas (Kim) and David (Rachel) all of Fredericton, NB. Her cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie and Kelsey, Erica (Jayde) and Melissa, Emily and Megan, Bradley and Matthew will always remember their Grammy and Meme for all the wonderful times they shared. Anne was the devoted sister of Alma Downing and Jim Downing of Aroostook, NB, Marjorie Morton, Lois Walker Gillin and Norma Sherwood of Fredericton, NB, Betty Price (George) of Tillsonburg, ON, Jerry Downing (Carol) of Grande Prairie, AB, Nina Crookes (Alfred) of Kelowna, BC, and Connie Scott (Larry) of San Angelo, Texas. Anne’s brother, Dick, predeceased her in 2008. Several nieces and nephews also survive her. Anne was the best wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a tireless supporter of her children and grandchildren in all their activities. She could be found at hockey, ringette, baseball, volleyball and soccer games. She attended drama, music and dance recitals, and cheerleading competitions. Anne was always interested in the lives of her sisters and brothers and their children. Anne loved to write letters and take photographs and her many albums are a testament to that. Anne graduated Provincial Normal School in 1952 and taught school in Perth and Aroostook for 7 years. Anne was a receptionist for Dr. Everett Chalmers and upon his retirement became an employee of Fredericton Medical Clinic from which she retired. She was a member of the Dusty Sneakers group at the YMCA. Anne was a devoted member of Christ Church Cathedral, the ACW, and polished many ornaments for the pewter guild. Anne was honoured by the Canadian Blood Services, for her over 100 donations of blood. We wish to thank Dr. Saira Athar and the staff of DECH, especially the Palliative care unit.
There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will take place at Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday, September 10th, 2011 at 11:00 am with The Very Rev. Keith Joyce and Bishop William Hockin officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held in Cathedral Memorial Hall. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in memory of Anne may be made to Christ Church Cathedral Restoration Fund, the Canadian Cancer Society or a memorial of one’s choice.
