July 9, 1923 – September 10, 2011. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Loretta O’Neill Fogarty, peacefully, in her 89th year. Survived by Andrew Wilfred Fogarty, her best friend and husband for more than 63 years. She also leaves to mourn her sons: Neill (Rosemary), Mississauga, ON, Stephen (Christine), Pincourt, QC, and daughter Loretta (Patrick) Candiac, QC, her brother James P. O’Neill, St. John’s, NL, her loving and adored grandchildren: Nicolas, Thomas, Andrew and Clare, and numerous relatives and friends. Daughter of the late Patrick J. O’Neill, OBE, and the late Teresa M. O’Neill, Mary was born and educated in St. John’s NL and graduated with her B.A. Cum Laude from Georgian Court University, Lakewood, NJ, majoring in Music: piano, violin, voice. Following graduation and a period with Radio Station WOR in New York, she served, until her marriage, as Private Secretary to Bishop Fulton J. Sheen in Washington, DC. Referred to as a truly gracious Patrician lady, Mary was a genuinely wholesome human being loved and admired by all who knew her. She will be sorely missed. Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 15, at St. Edmund’s Church, 105 Beaconsfield Blvd., Beaconsfield, QC. Interment in the Fogarty Family plot, Notre Dame Cemetery, Ottawa, ON.
