Thomas Power
POWER, THOMAS JOSEPH - Thomas Joseph Power of Wellington Street in Chatham, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at the age of 101. Tom was born on March 14, 1910 in Wine River, N.B., the eldest son of John A. and Anna (Malloy) Power. Before his retirement in 1975, he was employed with C.F.B. Chatham. He was a long standing member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1219 and also a member of the Royal Order of Hibernians. Tom is survived by his loving wife Anna (Phee) Power, his two sons, James (Cheryl) of Shediac Bridge, and Wayne (Karen) of Rothesay, his stepdaughter Mary (Vern) Derry, stepson Michael (Kathy) Connell and step daughter-in-law Maureen Connell , all of Miramichi and his sister Anna Dunn of Colgan, Ontario and many nieces and nephews. He was also affectionately known as Grandpa to 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Gertrude Cook, his brothers Terrence, John, and Leo, sisters Evelyn Conley, Edna Flanagan, Dorothy Sullivan and Margaret, his stepson Jack Connell and grandson Kevin Connell.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 21st at 11:00a.m. at St. Michaels Basilica, Miramichi, N.B with Father John Fraser officiating. Burial to follow at St. Margaret’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Maher’s Funeral Home, Miramichi, N.B.
