Lucy has 'gone home' after passing away while surrounded by family at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie, Alberta at the age of 70 years.
Lucy has been reunited with her loving husband of 40 years, George; her son David; her parents Charles & Elizabeth Boutilier; Joseph (Leandre) & Germaine Lirette in the Kingdom of God.
Lucy was raised in the town of Dominion on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. In 1961, Lucy ventured north to begin her teaching career in Fort Resolution, Northwest Territories. It was here that she met George and they were married in 1963. Lucy and George raised four children, Charles, Raymond, David and Deanna in the communities of Fort Resolution and Pine Point, Northwest Territories. In 1987, Lucy and George moved to Penticton, British Columbia before retiring closer to their family in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
Lucy is lovingly remembered by her children Charles (Dorothy), Raymond (Helena), and Deanna; grandchildren Joseph, Christopher, Andrew, Morgan, Nicholas, Danielle; siblings Sheila (Ronnie), Helen (Johnny), Charlene (Blaine), Freddy (Peggy); sisters-in-law Marg (Flo), Terry (Romeo), Jeanne (Rollie), Gerty (John), Florence (Jon); and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends from sea to sea to sea.
A prayer service to honor Lucy Lirette will be held at Oliver's Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
A funeral mass for Lucy will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grande Prairie, Alberta. A memorial and burial of cremains will take place in Hay River, Northwest Territories at a later date.
Donations in memory of Lucy can be made to the Alberta/Northwest Territories Division of the Canadian Cancer Society.
