James Jarvis Shail passed away in the comfort of his home September 15, 2011, with is family by his side. Jim was born March 27, 1951, in Swift Current, SK and was the youngest of 4 children born to Herman and Margaret Shail. He was predeceased by his parents, step father Scottie Menzies and his wife Edie, the love of his life for 40 years. Jim is survived by his sisters Elaine (Lowell) Spenst, Maimie (Maurice) Mahoney; brother Gary (Glenda) Shail; daughter Sherry (Brian) Essington; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim will be most fondly remembered for his wonderful sense of humour, love of music - including playing guitar - gardening, attention to detail and impeccable manners. He was a true gentleman and his friends considered him a great man with a big heart. When Jim and Edie were first starting out with a family of their own, he worked 3 jobs to make ends meet. He also worked as a gas jockey and a roofer. He worked his way through school to earn an Interprovincial Journeyman Plumber & Gas Fitter ticket. Jim and Edie were proud owners/operators of Low Cost Plumbing & Heating Inc. 1985. They were partners in life and business and inseparable. You never saw one without the other. He was lost himself when he lost her to cancer only 4 short years ago. At long last you two can cuddle for eternity. As per his wishes, Dad has been cremated and his ashes will be buried together with his soul mate Edie. A private family service was held at 2:00PM, September 18, 2011, in the Chapel of Swift Current Funeral Home with Father James Owolagba officiating. The family would like to extend thanks to the Palliative Care Staff at the Cypress Regional Hospital and his Home Care Nurses Terri and Stephanie. The care they gave allowed Dad to remain at home as comfortable as possible. They were never more than a phone call away and went over and above the call of duty. In lieu of flowers, donations made to CNIB and/or the Epilepsy Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Now you’ll always have the inside scoop on all the gossip! We miss you so very much!
