KOWERCHUK - Kathryn Kowerchuk of Waldeck, SK, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, with her loving husband John and family by her side. Kathryn was born and raised in Portage La Prairie, MB. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse, working in Flin Flon, Churchill, and various other parts of Manitoba. On August 4, 1979 she married John Kowerchuk on the family farm near Poplar Point, MB. They then moved to Yellowknife, NWT where they had a fulfilling and exciting life for the next 30 years. After working as an LPN she refocused her career into health care administration and completed the Health Administration Program with the University of Saskatchewan. She joined the Medical Services Branch of Health & Welfare Canada which later transferred to the Territorial Department of Health in 1988 where she continued working until her retirement in 2009. Kathryn was one of two children born to the late Ralph and Marion Kennedy and was the beloved wife of John Kowerchuk for 32 years. She is survived by, and will forever be remembered by her best friend and loving husband John, sister Nona, nieces Stacey and Tara and many other very dear friends and family. Kathryn loved playing the piano, entertaining and cooking gourmet meals for her husband and friends, planning great surprise parties for John, travelling, and encouraging John in his many outdoor pursuits. Kathryn touched the lives of many people and developed deep and lasting friendships. To her great joy, some of these friends were able to be at her bedside during her illness. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at 2:00 pm at the home of Kathryn and John Kowerchuk, 17 Lang Street Waldeck, SK.
