The grandchildren of Laura Jane Campbell deeply regret the passing of their dear grandmother on Friday Sept. 23, 2011 at the C.B. Regional Hospital.
Of Point Edward Laura was the last surviving member of her family. Born in Neil's Harbour to the late Charlotte Fricker, and was raised by her adoptive parents, the late John and Edith MacLennan in Bras D’or.
Laura was a life member of RCL Branch 126 of Westmount, both the parent branch and the ladies auxiliary. She was a member of the Queen Elizabeth chapter 14 of the Eastern Star, and the Canadian Order of Forresters. She held many offices in these organizations. Laura enjoyed playing darts at the Point Edward community hall until the time she took ill.
Laura is survived by stepsons, David (Helen) Campbell, Niagra Falls, Robert (Helen) Campbell, Sydney Mines; daughters-in-law Mona Hamm, Dartmouth and Margureitte Hamm, Lower Sackville and seven stepchildren of the late Lewis B. Rudderham. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Laura was predeceased by her first husband Gerald Hamm; second husband, Malcolm Campbell, and long time companion Lewis B. Rudderham. Also predeceased by her sons Charles F. Hamm, Cst. William Hamm, and only daughter Shirley Withrow. Brother David MacLennan, and sisters Edith MacLennan and Rhoda Morrison 
Laura will be sadly missed by her little dog and daily companion Dexter.
She will be sadly missed and never forgotten, the fun of her family and her laughter will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the IWK Hospital or the Children’s Wish Foundation.
Visitation will be held on Sept. 26, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral service will take place on Sept. 27, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
