PALECEK: Lloyd Louis Palecek of Swift Current Saskatchewan passed away Monday October 12th 2009 at the Swift Current Care Center with his family by his side. Lloyd was born in Swift Current Saskatchewan on January l0th 1930; he was raised on a small farm near Cantuar Saskatchewan and attended Velva, Cantuar School, St. Joan of Arc Academy, and Balfour Tech; Lloyd moved to Ontario to work for a short period of time. He then returned to Swift Current where he met and married Laverne Marie Illerbrun from the Illerbrun district (Simmie). Lloyd worked at Standard Motors as a mechanic until 1964. He opened his own business, Palecek Motors (VW cars and Suzuki Motorcycles), which he operated until his retirement in 1992. Lloyd will be lovingly remembered by his wife Laverne of 57 years, and their children; son Larry (Nancy) and his children Kerry, Jesse, Lonnie, and Christopher, son Ron (Joanne) and their children Mark (Rosie), and Janice Ewen (Chad), daughter Carol Gates (Lee) and their children Erin (Cam), and Kelsey, daughter Sandra Boutin and her children Bret (Megan), and Britany, daughter Laurie Cobler (Stephen) and her children Alicia Smith (Coty), and Michael (AJ), three
great-grandchildren Broden, Ella-Gail, and Dilon, foster daughter Donna Lee, brother Ken, brothers-in-law Bill, Bob, Jerry (Vivian), Jack (Marilyn), sister-in-law Marj, and many nieces and nephews. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents Ladislaus (Bill) and Marvel, his brother in law Don, sisters-in-Law Geneva, Marj, and Anne. Lloyd was an auxiliary member of the Legion, a life member of the Knights of Columbus, and also served as a director of the Chamber of Commerce. Lloyd was interested in anything technical and excelled in learning new technology even later on in his life; he enjoyed sailing, fishing, collecting and repairing antique clocks, and riding motorcycles. Lloyd and Laverne loved dancing together and would often go out Saturday nights to the Legion dances; he also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren at their cabin at Beaver Flats where he would take them sailing and fishing.
Many thanks to all the staff of the Swift Current Care Center for their loving care and dedication to Lloyd; The funeral services were held Friday October 16th at Christ the Redeemer Church, and internment followed at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Swift Current Care Center Auxiliary 700 Aberdeen Street E, S9H 3E3, or Christ the Redeemer Building Fund.
