Walter Francis C.M. (Major - C.L.B.) Learning
Passed peacefully away on September 25, 2011, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer, age 84 years. Member of the Order of Canada, long-time member of the C.L.B (1939 – 2011) and retired Bandmaster of the C.L.B Regimental Band. Predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Marjorie (2004). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his children: Sheri DeBruijn (Gunnar) and Don Learning (Ann); grandchildren: Brad, Mike, Katie, Jenna, Adam, Laura, Koos and Anneliese; great-grandchildren Ethan and James; also loving companion Pearl Learning; special niece Denise Smith and husband Wayne; as well as a large circle of family and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 27 and Wednesday, September 28. Funeral service to be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 29 from the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, St. John’s. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
