COLE, BYRON J. - The family of the late Byron J. Cole of Middlesex are saddened to announce his death which occurred Friday, September 23rd at The Moncton Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born in Turtle Creek on December 6, 1946, Byron was the son of the late Arthur and Ferne (Milton) Cole. He leaves his wife of over 40 years, Cathy (nee Lewis), their only child Aaron (Shauna), "Bubba's Girls" Denée and Kayla, all of Riverview, brother Lloyd of Petitcodiac, sisters-in-law Verna Ermen (late Leon) of Bass River and Cindy Cole of Middlesex, brothers-in-law, Fred Dole (late Margaret) of Moncton and Dwight Lewis of Picton, ON, mother-in-law Barbara Lewis of Riverview, one aunt, Helen (late Acil) Cole of Riverview as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Byron was pre-deceased by his father Arthur (1980), mother Ferne (2006), brother Leon (1979), sister Margaret (2005), father-in-law Donald Lewis (2004) and numerous Aunts and Uncles. In his younger years Byron enjoyed playing fastball (Middlesex Aces and Salisbury Flyers), golf, darts and later in life took great enjoyment from hiking the trails of numerous Provincial and National Parks with Cathy and their good friend Bill. He also had many good times attending various local race tracks as well as several NASCAR venues with his family over the years. Byron could often be found at D&M Auction Center where he always enjoyed the company of Jim, Ronnie and numerous friends and acquaintances. He was also a long time member of the Moncton Coin Club and was a Past President of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 31, Salisbury. Due to his failing health, Byron and Cathy moved to Riverview two years ago and since that time he especially looked forward to the almost daily visits and long chats with Aaron as Father and Son but also friend to friend. Byron was happiest when he was surrounded by his family, be it a special occasion, together for a meal, a race or a game on TV or just to enjoy each others company. He could always be counted on for advice when asked or to help out with anything his family or friends needed. Byron was a cherished part of his family and will be missed every day.
As per Byron's wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral service. His body has been cremated and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. "... Forget not, but remember with a smile." For those who so desire, donations to the NB Lung Association would be appreciated by his family.
