With deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of our dear father, brother, grandfather and friend, Joseph McIsaac of Kitchener, Ont.
Born in Glace Bay on April 20, 1941, Joe was the son of the late Daniel Joseph and Edna (Petrie) McIsaac. While living in Glace Bay Joe resided on 7th Street. After growing up in New Aberdeen, Joe lived and worked in Ontario for most of his life. In his younger years Joe was an exceptional baseball and softball player. He played on the Lighter’s Yankees and was a member of the New Aberdeen Aces, who won the Maritime Softball Championship in 1959. Joe will be remembered for his quiet nature that belied his quick wit and comprehension of current events.
Joe will be sadly missed by his daughters, Sandy (Jeff) Thompson and Brenda Mota, both of Kitchener, Ont.; brothers, John (Pauline), Wishie (Linda) both of Glace Bay; sisters, Anne (Duck) Ellsworth, Dominion, Marley (Elroy) McNeil, Edmonton, Catherine (Charles) Duhamel, Leone, Donna, Debbie (Jim) MacLellan all of Glace Bay; grandchildren, Samantha, Jason, Aaron, Brandon, all of Ont.; several nieces, nephews and friend and former wife Paulette (Morrison) McIsaac.
Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by a sister, Mary and three siblings in infancy.
In honouring Joe’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, from 1-4 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Following the visitation there will be a private family graveside committal service in St. John’s Parish Cemetery, Glace Bay, with Deacon Leo Penny officiating.
The family requests no flowers please. Donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the Glace Bay Food Bank.
